When I was crazy, I used to run
Muddy sneakers kicking up the dirt
Legs pounding against concrete
until I would come to a field,
drop my heavy shoulders heaving,
and gaze at the sky
When I was crazy, no amount of
trained psychotherapists diagnoses
eased the turmoil of my mind
like watching the skys expanse
unfold from above
grounding me
like forgetting the details of life
to focus on curtains of cloud
blanketing me with peace
Nowadays, Im not so crazy
But my eyes still find the sky
Restoring my sanity, reminding me to breath
and let life flow through me
tides of emotion seeping in and trickling out
seeping in and trickling out
seeping in and
Remind yourself to look up
the next time youre drowning in life
Ignore the smokestacks
bombing heavens terraces with pollution, though
And lets knock them down at the end of this prayer
save our serenity from chaos
salvage our sanity from humanity
snatch our souls from destruction
This is what the sky does for me.

There's room at the top
They're telling you still
But first you must learn
How to smile as you kill
